A pencil drawing of Arno Breker’s relief sculpture “Vernichtung” (English : Annihilation) created in 1940.
Annihilation - definition ; an act or instance of completely destroying or defeating someone or something.
The relief depicts a heroic warrior on a horse holding a sword over his head, ready to bring it down to a fallen warrior who is trying to defend himself with his shield since his sword is broken.
This relief undoubtedly attracts its origin from Ancient Greece although the heads bear the characteristic design of Breker, the bodies are reminiscent of many statues of classical or late antiquity.
