A pencil drawing of Josef Thorak’s bronze statue of “Der Athlet” / “The Athlete.”
The height is 75 cm and the statue was cast around 1937.
This depicts a nude heroic athlete, holding his right hand over his head, saluting. The left hand is at his side over his waist. A heroic mantle is resting over his right shoulder which falls behind and him and is held in place over his left arm. Standing with legs wide open on a rectangular plinth.
The body bears the characteristic design of Thorak.
Allegedly the sculpture was located in the office of Hermann Göring at the Luftwaffe-Kur-Lazarett in Ober-Schreiberhau, Riesengebirge (now the city of Szklarska Poręba).
