A pencil drawing of Arno Breker’s The Torchbearer / Der Fackelträger relief.
The relief depicts a heroic warrior, the right hand “en guarde” and the left holding up high a flaming torch.
This was one of the monumental reliefs (5m high) to decorate the Grosser Bogen, a monumental arch to be built in the center of Germania, to which Berlin was to be transformed after the war was won (about 1950). Designed by state architect Albert Speer, was intended to be a war monument dedicated to all fallen soldiers of the Reich.
